cPanel is the control room for your hosting — every site, mailbox, database and security setting lives here. Spend ten minutes learning its layout and you’ll manage your hosting confidently instead of hunting for tools. This guided tour covers each section, what you’ll actually use, and the fastest ways to get around.
Reach cPanel at yourdomain.com/cpanel or the link in your welcome email, and log in with the credentials we provided. The home screen groups tools into labelled sections. The fastest way to navigate is the search box at the top — type “email” or “php” and it jumps straight to the tool.
Your main site’s files sit in the public_html folder. The File Manager lets you upload, edit and organise them in the browser; FTP Accounts give scoped access for developers; and the Backup tools let you download or restore copies. This is where you’ll spend time when deploying or fixing a site.
Under Email you create mailboxes, forwarders and autoresponders and tune the spam filter. Under Domains you add extra websites (addon domains), create sections like blog. (subdomains), set up redirects, and edit DNS in the Zone Editor. These two sections cover most day-to-day hosting tasks.
| Section | Use it to… |
|---|---|
| Security | Manage SSL, block abusive IPs, enable hotlink and leech protection |
| Metrics | Check visitors, bandwidth, and read error logs when something breaks |
| Software | Switch PHP version, install WordPress, adjust PHP limits |
| Advanced | Schedule cron jobs and customise error pages |
cPanel groups everything into Files, Databases, Email, Domains, Metrics, Security and Software. Learn the search box, know that your site lives in public_html, and you’ll find any tool in seconds.
