How to Back Up Your Site in cPanel

24 Feb 2026 · 4 min read · DelhiHosting Team

cPanel’s backup tools let you save copies of your files, databases and email so you can recover from mistakes, hacks or hardware problems. Here’s how to use them.

Full vs partial backups

A full backup captures everything — files, databases and email — as a single archive, ideal before a big change or migration. Partial backups let you save just the home directory, a database, or email forwarders individually.

Create a backup

Open the Backup or Backup Wizard tool, choose full or partial, and download the resulting file to your own computer or cloud storage. Keeping it off-server is what protects you if the server itself has a problem.

Keep a routine

Take a backup before every significant change, and on a regular schedule otherwise. We run our own backups as a courtesy, but your own recent copy is the surest safety net.

Quick tips
  • Full backup before big changes
  • Partial backups for single items
  • Download copies off-server
  • Back up on a regular schedule
Key takeaway

Use cPanel’s backup tools before major changes and on a schedule, and keep copies off-server — your own recent backup is the surest safety net.
