Caching is the most effective speed improvement you can make, yet many site owners don’t use it. Here’s what it does and how to switch it on.
Normally WordPress rebuilds each page from the database on every visit, which takes time. A cache stores a ready-made copy and serves that instead, so pages load almost instantly and your server handles far more visitors.
Page caching stores whole pages; browser caching keeps files on the visitor’s device; object caching speeds up database queries. Server-level caching like LiteSpeed (on our hosting) is faster still and needs little configuration.
Install a caching plugin, enable page and browser caching, and clear the cache after you make changes so visitors see the latest version. On LiteSpeed servers, the matching plugin gives excellent results out of the box.
