How to Use the cPanel Spam Filter

5 Apr 2026 Β· 4 min read Β· DelhiHosting Team

cPanel’s built-in spam filter (SpamAssassin) keeps junk out of your inbox. A little tuning makes it catch more spam without trapping genuine mail.

Turn it on

In Spam Filters, enable the filter. By default it scores each message and marks likely spam. You can have high-scoring spam automatically moved to a separate folder or deleted.

Tune the threshold

Lower the spam score threshold to catch more aggressively, or raise it if real mail is being flagged. Start moderate and adjust based on what actually slips through or gets caught wrongly.

Use allow and block lists

Add trusted senders to the allow list so their mail always gets through, and block known spammers. Combined with the score filter, this gives you a clean inbox with minimal false positives.

Quick tips
  • βœ“Enable SpamAssassin in Spam Filters
  • βœ“Adjust the score threshold gradually
  • βœ“Allow-list trusted senders
  • βœ“Block persistent spammers
Key takeaway

Enable SpamAssassin, tune its threshold to your mail, and use allow/block lists β€” for a clean inbox with few false positives.
