Hotlinking is when other websites embed your images directly, using your bandwidth to display content on their pages. cPanel can stop it.
Every time another site hotlinks your image, your server serves it — costing you bandwidth and, in effect, hosting their content. Hotlink protection blocks this while letting your own pages display images normally.
In Hotlink Protection, enable the feature and confirm the list of allowed domains includes your own site. Optionally allow direct access for certain file types. Other sites can then no longer embed your files.
After enabling, browse your own pages to confirm images still load — they should, since your domain is allowed. If you use a CDN or multiple domains, add them to the allowed list too.
Hotlink protection stops other sites embedding your images on your bandwidth — just remember to allow your own and CDN domains.
