Not every site wants comments. If yours attracts only spam, turning comments off cuts noise and maintenance — here’s how to do it site-wide or selectively.
Under Settings → Discussion, untick "Allow people to submit comments on new posts". This stops comments on anything published from now on, without affecting existing discussions.
For posts and pages already published, use the bulk edit option in the Posts and Pages lists to set comments to "Do not allow". This closes the door on old entries that bots still target.
If you never want comments, a small plugin can hide all comment fields, menus and links completely, giving a cleaner admin and front end. This is the tidiest option for brochure and business sites.
