Audit what you have

List every active plugin and ask what each one does. You’ll usually find duplicates, abandoned tools, and plugins added for a one-off task and never removed. Anything you can’t justify is a candidate for removal.

Consolidate and remove

Replace several single-purpose plugins with one good multi-feature plugin where sensible. Deactivate what you don’t need, confirm nothing breaks, then delete it — deactivated plugins still pose a security risk.
